Game Information Despite being almost a decade old, this venerable RTS Fantasy game still delivers endless replay value: hopefully appealing to serious retro-gamers & curious beginners alike. The graphics are predictably basic in scope (no surprise considering the limited specs of the PSX console...) but perform adequtely well to the task in hand. You begin as cynical mercenary commander: Morgan Bernhardt, leading a well balanced force of heavy cavalry, infantry, crossbowmen & cannon to fight a campaign against assorted legions of goblins, ghouls, undead & evil wizards in an intricately evolving fantasy storyline. Your choice of tactics determines your success (or failure) in battle, which then affects your essential ability to earn enough gold to recruit more troop units to survive & hopefully win the campaign. However, this isn't always easy, as battles & opponents soon become tougher & more cunning as the campaign evolves. But with the benefit of hindsight you learn enough from your inevitable defeats to refight your lost battles & win through to the next stage. Each stage is also introduced by useful interactive character narratives. Allowing you to recruit new units, in the form of allied troops, powerful wizards, or even monsters. Which can all, used effectively "spell" that decisive difference between glorious victory & ignominous defeat in battle! You're also presented with occasional moral dilemmas: whether to aid or desert your friends & allies. Evidently intended to test your resolve as a true "mercenary" commander to their very limits! These various factors all combine to make an engrossing game, which is surely a 'must have' for any discerning RTS or Fantasy gamer.
